Port Hardy
Vancouver Island
British Columbia

Aboard the Nautilus Explorer

Date Change!

May 16 – May 23, 2009

British Columbia is famous for diving with wolf eels, giant Pacific octopus and a whole lot more. One of the many exceptional things about diving in British Columbia is that the water is generally very calm and it's quite common to go for a week or longer without feeling any motion sickness onboard.

Dive sites may include Browning Pass, Dillon Rock, the Deserter Group, Queen Charlotte Strait and possibly Seymour Inlet. You can expect 3 dives every day, shore hikes, use of a fleet of kayaks, and evenings spent under the stars in the hot-tub, evening presentations and movies and lots of camaraderie. The staterooms are located on a different deck than the lounge and are heavily noise-proofed for those who want to turn in early. Marine life includes all the typical neat "Pacific Northwest stuff" like giant octopus, playful wolf eels, loads of nudibranchs , huge anemones and walls loaded with soft and hard coral and sorts of other invertebrate life. Topside, you are very likely to see dolphins, porpoises and orcas as well as the beautiful scenery that British Columbia is famous for.

This destination is perfect for photographers and other serious divers who want to maximize the number of cold water dives they do during a trip. Charter includes 7 day / 6 night departure from Vancouver to Port Hardy, 2 overnight runs and a lot of time spent at anchor diving every "slack."

*Please note that these trips are best suited for experienced divers who are in good physical condition and comfortable diving "at slack" in "cold" water.
